The Reusable Part of Experience Is the Model

For Experience Capitalization, the reusable operational value of experience lies primarily in the models that can be reconstructed from it.

Episodes Do Not Scale

A person may handle a thousand cases. Saving all thousand cases creates an archive. Another person can search it, but still has to decide which cases matter, which differences are important, and what rule can be generalized.

An archive stores episodes. A model represents the reusable structure reconstructed from those episodes.

Compression Creates Reuse

Experience becomes reusable when recurring relationships across observations are represented explicitly enough to guide a new case. The model represents the relevant entities, states, conditions, available actions, constraints, and expected results.

This is why a good model can be much smaller than the observations, source material, reasoning, or design work from which it was reconstructed while being more useful for future action.

Written Models Already Exist Everywhere

Manuals, standards, textbooks, regulations, scientific theories, algorithms, and technical specifications can preserve models, model fragments, constraints, or evidence in compact external form. Their content may originate from observation, reasoning, deliberate design, or authority.

Human readers have traditionally reconstructed these models internally.

LLMs Shift Reconstruction to Machines

LLMs can perform much of the first-pass reconstruction by combining broad statistical structure learned from large textual corpora with direct analysis of targeted descriptive material. They can propose candidate entities, states, rules, actions, and process structures.

The result becomes durable and reusable only when that candidate is made explicit, grounded in appropriate sources, verified for its declared scope, and released for reuse.

Capitalization Means Separation

A model becomes capital when it can be separated from the particular episodes, source-reading effort, or individual interpretation that produced it, verified for its declared scope, released, and reused by others. It can then support people, software, training, decision systems, and automation.

This is the central economic idea of Experience Capitalization: the transferable asset is the released reusable model reconstructed from accumulated experience together with the documentary and formal sources relevant to its scope, including governing sources where applicable.
